Spurs, Hornets clash at New Orleans Arena

Basketball Betting Lines

03/01/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The San Antonio Spurs shoot for their second win in as many nights on Monday in the Big Easy when they visit a New Orleans Hornets team on the outside, looking in at the Western Conference playoff picture.

The Spurs recorded a big win over fellow West contender Phoenix last night in the Alamo City, as Tim Duncan scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 113-110 win over the Suns.

Manu Ginobili added 21 points, eight assists and six boards off the bench, while Richard Jefferson finished with 20 points for San Antonio, which had dropped three of four coming into the contest, including a 109-104 setback at Houston on Friday.

Tony Parker, returning to the floor after a case of food poisoning, added 16 points and Antonio McDyess went for 12 points and nine boards in the win.

"Great victory," Duncan said. "It's a game-by-game thing right now and we just have to focus on the next game coming up, so getting this win and forgetting about last game and just getting victories and building on something is what we need to do."

San Antonio remained the seventh seed in the competitive West, one-half game ahead of Portland and 3 1/2 clear of New Orleans, which fell in Dallas last night.

Dirk Nowitzki finished with 36 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in that one, as the Mavericks took the 108-100 win.

Rookie point guard Darren Collison, starting in place on injured All-Star Chris Paul, had a career-high 35 points, while fellow freshman Marcus Thornton added 21 points off the bench, but the Hornets lost for the third time in four games.

"They're a very strong team and they play very well together, and we were going to have to give ourselves a better chance in the first half to win this one," said Hornets head coach Jeff Bower.

The Spurs have already beaten New Orleans twice this season and have taken three straight overall vs. the Hornets.

MySportsbook.com week 1 NFL lines

Now that the 2008 NFL schedule is finally out, it is only matter-of-course for lines on “Week 1” to follow.  Of course MySportsbook.com is the first to churn out odds for the NFL’s inaugural week for the upcoming season.   Expect a lot of fireworks the first Thursday night of the season as the defending champion Indianapolis Colts face off against the surprise of the 2008 season, the New Orleans Saints.  These teams were ranked #1 and #3 in the NFL respectively a season ago so a high scoring affair could be in order.  As of now, the Colts will be giving 6 points to the Saints; keep in mind the Saints were one of the better road teams last season going 6-3 SU and 7-2 ATS.  The first Monday night of the season will again provide a “double feature”. Coming off a disappointing season, the Cincinnati Bengals will look to get back to playoffs and improve their public image as they take on the AFC North favorite Baltimore Ravens.  The second game features a couple of teams that haven’t had too much success recently but each could make some noise if the NFC is as weak as it was last year as the San Francisco 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals. The most interesting game of the opening week will feature the NFC champion Bears as they hit the road to take on the NFL’s top team during last year’s regular season, the San Diego Chargers.

MySportsbook.com favors Bears, Bengals, Chargers and Colts to remain perfect

LAS VEGAS , Sept. 28 - Two big match-ups of undefeated teams have fans salivating at the Week Four schedule in the NFL. The Chicago Bears stifling defense looks to provide a less than hospitable welcome to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the NFC conference. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers (2-0) head to Maryland to face the surprising Baltimore Ravens (3-0) as both try to keep pace atop the conference standings. Betting Lines makers at MySportsbook.com, online sportsbook and casino, have set the Bears as 3.5 point favorites while the Chargers are a 2.5 point bet.

Of the three remaining undefeated teams, only one, New Orleans, enters this week's game as an underdog. Despite an emotional and resounding win over Atlanta on Monday night, the Saints are a 7.5 point underdog against the struggling Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis looks to stay perfect when they face the New York Jets as a 9 point road favorite while the Cincinnati Bengals are a 6 point favorite at home to the New England Patriots.

Six teams enter the week still looking for their first win, with a seventh, Tampa Bay, on a bye week. The prospect of dropping another game would not bode well for a potential playoff run. Since 1990, just three teams -- the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1998 Buffalo Bills -- have overcome losing their first three games of the season to earn a postseason berth. And only the Chargers managed to accomplish the feat after starting 0-4.
